You are called to a 17-year-old-female, she is at home with her parents who have called the ambulance because she is complaining of stomach pain. When you arrive on scene you notice the patient is in the bathroom –as you walk in, the baby is born and the patient grabs hold of the baby and holds it to herself –the patient looks to be alarmed and the baby begins to cry within 30 seconds, has good tone and is slightly blue at the peripheries. The parents are surprised as they were not aware that their daughter was pregnant.The patient does not want you to take her baby, and she is cradling the baby to her chest. As she moves to get more comfortable you see thisblood clot:And a constant stream of vaginal blood is coming from the patient –she looks pale but still feels able to hold her baby at present.
