Read through all the articles and links posted in attachments: the PROJO articles related to Rhode Island Police officers Bill of Rights are current issues in front of the RI General Assembly and actively discussed amongst labor unions, elected officials, talk radio and the community alike.

For this forum, answer the following:

LEBOR – Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights
– Your opinion regarding the changes recommended to the current Bill of Rights as depicted in the attached articles?

Are these changes necessary knowing that there is less than five (5) actual LEBOR hearings annually that generally agree with the agency requesting discipline?

With Body Worn Cameras (BWC) on the forefront for police officers does this change your view for considerable change to LEBOR?

Should police be judged independently from fellow officers who have a vast knowledge of their field/decision making process or should civilians review the actions of police and render judgement?

Do you think civilian review boards will help or hinder police recruitment and what is your thought with replacing police on the LEBOR hearing panel with civilians?

Should Police Chiefs have the authority to suspend an officer for more than two (2) days before a disciplined police officer can request a LEBOR hearing as enumerated in current law.

What if any changes(s) would you recommend to the LEBOR process or do you feel that the current law is adequate and/or do you feel the recent trend (defund police) has influenced the discussions surrounding changing the current legislation regarding LEBOR?
