The Vietnam War and the Afghan War in Presidential Elections
On one hand, how the war in Vietnam shaped the campaigns carried out by the Presidents: firstly, how Kennedy addressed the matter (maybe also add something about how he was “judged” for how he acted towards the war).
Then, Lyndon B. Johnson became President: analyze how he handled the question of the war, how it was used in the presidential elections of 1964, and also add that the unsuccess in the war was the cause he did not decide to run for another term.
Finally, with Nixon, how he dealt with the war in his campaign, and also describe how, before being elected, he was involved in a scandal concerning the war, and President Johnson found out but decided to do nothing.
On the other hand, how the Afghanistan war influenced the presidential elections: starting from Bush — how he initiated the term “war on terror” and then how he exploited the notion for his reelection. Secondly, Obama — also about how Osama Bin Laden was killed during his presidency and how it was politicized.
Then, Donald Trump: how he presented his view about the war and intentions towards it in his campaign, arriving at the agreement taken to end the war in February 2020.
And, finally, Biden — adding also how he managed the exit of the US from the war and his reaction to it.
