Review the course sources on Pilgrimage and review the Muslim and Hindu links and videos for their famous pilgrimages (the Hajj & the Kumbha Mela).

Write a short (1-2 pages) reflection on traveling on journeys to sacred places as a religious practice. Incorporate one or more of the following questions/ideas into your refection.

Does pilgrimages and religious journeys seem meaningful to you as an important kind of expression of religious faith? If so, or not so, then why or why not?

In your opinion, have sacred journeys been replaced in modern America by tourism or other forms of recreational travel?

Are recreational journeys or tourist destinations, like Disney World, a music festival, the Grand Canyon, an annual fishing trip, or a visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame (or similar things) something like “secular” forms of pilgrimage? If so, then why and how exactly?

Have your ever gone on a journey that had deep meaning to you, whether religious or secular? How and why was it meaningful?

Note: Have traveled to Sri Harmandir Sahib and the Taj Mahal as a tourist on a Christian mission trip (worked with kids at different orphanages), however, i have not been on a Pilgrimage)
