This assignment (worth a possible 5 points) requires locating a new primary source that either supports or undermines an important contention of the textbooks, in a manner similar to here: Primary Sources by Chapter. Select an excerpt 1–2 pages long and provide a half-page (double spaced) introduction that includes context and analysis. Texts you can copy and paste are available online at Google Books; and Wikisource. Your introductory essay must (a) identify the source, its author, and its purpose; (b) state its importance; (c) and convincingly explain your interpretation. (The introduction can paraphrase the textbooks.) Selected texts can range chronologically from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries.
