What is the relationship of your issue to political, social, economic, cultural and / or environmental processes?

-Contemporary Urban Issue Paper

In this short term paper you will select an urban issue currently facing the City of Regina. This issue might relate to some aspect of urban development, the urban built environment, urbanization, or urban life. The paper will provide you with the opportunity to ground the theories and ideas discussed in class within a local urban context.

Some questions that you might consider along the way:

-What is the planning and development history of your issue?

-Who is affected by your issue?

-Who holds power in relation to your issue?

-What is the relationship of your issue to political, social, economic, cultural and / or environmental processes?

-What is the scale of your urban issue (street, neighbourhood, city, regional, etc.)?

Has to be doubles spaced, chicago style

You must use a standard essay format. The maximum length of the essay is 8 pages (excluding charts, tables, etc. which should be placed in an appendix following your paper).

-You must provide a bibliography with your essay. This bibliography, which can be any length, must include at least 4 primary references (peer reviewed journal articles, scholarly books and / or an edited collection of papers) and 2 secondary references (government reports, consulting reports, planning documents). You can select readings from the course, or rely on outside readings. You may also include newspaper / magazine articles, films / documentaries, and archival materials in your paper. It is better to rely on the primary references and secondary references to build and support your arguments, but these additional sources can be interesting mediums for analysis.
