Discuss and analyze the insights, ideas and philosophical position put forward by Nietzsche.

Philosophical Thinking Take-home test 3 You can submit your work at any time over the next week DUE:
In your own words, interpret, explain and analyze ONE of the following three passages from Nietzsche’s Twilight of the Idols. Remember that what I am looking for above all is evidence of understanding the material, and of thoughtful response to it.
Requirements: Think for yourself. Choose the passage you will discuss with care, and be sure to address it as fully as you can, both what the quote itself says and also its context and role in Twilight of the Idols. Discuss and analyze the insights, ideas and philosophical position put forward by Nietzsche. You may also wish to criticize his views, from your own perspective, but I recommend you do so only after presenting his ideas as faithfully as you can; also, it is good practice to try to imagine how Nietzsche would have replied to your comments. Please use a standard font, such as Times New Roman or Calibri (12 point), double spaced. Write in complete sentences, and in distinct paragraphs. Please submit your answer by pasting the content (from MS Word, please – not pdf) into the space provided on Blackboard. I would ask that you not post a link to an external document.. At the conclusion of your entry, as per the AUC Honor Code, please include the following statement, followed by your name, typed out in full.
By submitting this exam/assignment, I affirm that I have followed AUC’s Code ofAcademic Ethics and the work submitted is my own. I have not consulted unauthorized resources or materials nor collaborated with other individuals.
As regards length: I don’t have pre-set requirements. Say what you have to say, and say it as well as you can. Some people take more words to do that than others. Your grade will be based on what you say, not how many (or how few) words it takes you to say it. (Let me add, though, from long experience, that unusually short answers rarely if ever earn high grades. I am expecting you to put real effort into this.) As a guideline, let me suggest a range of 800-1400 words. This is not a research paper; the use of any outside sources is strongly discouraged (even if proper citations, required for any use of such sources, are included). The aim here is for you to work through the chosen passage yourself, on your own, drawing on your skills in close reading and analysis. Both the interpretation of the author’s views and your responses, comments and criticisms must be your own. Plagiarism, or other forms of cheating, will not be tolerated.
You do not need to include the chosen passage in your submission, nor to directly quote it at length. You may, if you choose, include brief quotations from other parts of Nietzsche’s Twilight of the Idols. If you do, please use the page numbers from our edition. Here’s an example of what your citation should look like, inserted after the quote: (Nietzsche, Twilight, p. 61).
Please note: the selected passages, below, have been lightly edited by me, for length and clarity.
