Explain what is the psychology of persuasion?

In chapter 16 of The Art of Public Speaking, I learned that without a disagreement there would be no need for persuasion, which is the most complex and challenging types of public speaking. It is easier to inform an audience than to persuade.

Persuading an audience may work with part of the audience or even upset the audience. When persuading an audience one thing that’s helps to keep in mind is about the range of persuasive responses, from strongly opposed to neutral to strongly in favor.

Something new learned and agree with in this chapter is that persuasion is something a speaker does with an audience not does because listeners don’t just listen they engage in a mental give-and-take.
