What is transformative justice?

My research paper is about structural violence in prison and how transformative justice is an anti violent solution to incarceration

Use this Thesis: Structural violence is the act of unequal treatment whether it be by injury, political, institutional or death.

Structural violence of incarceration is intentional by the state or government by the way systematically inequality especially to minorities in the U.S. Transformative justice is proposed as a structurally, anti-violent solution to incarceration.

Teachers notes: You can always use multiple search engines to find articles. What matters is that you have good articles. Your project requires two pieces.

First, there’s a literature review on structural violence (take into account the really good feedback i gave you on your thesis and choose an aspect of structural violence to discuss, or else you run the risk of being too broad/unfocused). You can use our course texts for this.

The second is your original research on transformative justice. So you aren’t looking for articles that discuss it, per se, you need to choose transformative justice organizations, campaigns and/or organizers to study.

Lit review (what is structural violence, how has it been written about, why is it violent/harmful and to whom)
Case studies (What is transformative justice? Who is practicing it and how? Why is it offered/imagined as the antidote to violence)
