What do you see as the benefits of understanding personality types in the workplace?

1. Of the 5 Principles of Leadership that empower people, which does your organization do well and which ones (if any) do they need to improve? Please explain.

2. The ability to inspire and motivate others is so important to effective leadership.

I took the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) at Nike, as did my entire HR team. The assessment was administered at an off-site retreat so that we weren’t distracted by work and could really evaluate the results and learn about ourselves and each other.

Of the many assessments I’ve taken, I found the MBTI to provide the most insight. This particular instrument isn’t a test as one isn’t compared against the norm; the goal of the MBTI is to offer unique information about your own personality. I found it fascinating and very accurate.

The MBTI results were enlightening and helped me understand my colleagues’ work styles better, which definitely led to improved communication. It also helped our Director to know his team more and have a better understanding how to motivate us.
