Critically evaluate the role of the Paramedic within the inter-professional team in primary and urgent care

The project idea is to put a paramedic in a primary urgent care setting (not emergency setting) but taking the skills a paramedic has developed and utilising them in the community. People with autism often have a number of undying health conditions and will often get neglected. Brining a paramedic into GP practice and providing regular health check-ups every 3 months. This would be a physical health check-up and mental health. The paramedic can refer to GP if needed or refer to IMAP who have specialist that can deal with anything that falls under the autistic spectrum, that require dolls assessments etc.

The paramedic will also attend GP call outs and deal with anything medical within the paramedics’ scope and anything out for the paramedics’ scope that requires prescribing the paramedic can refer this to GP. Essentially the paramedic will be building continuity and consistency with people with autism whilst preventing unnecessary hospitalisation. People with autism can often display behaviours and meltdowns which could lead to self-neglect or self-harm.

This is where having consistency with the patients and having a good report and IMAP can be utilised by making referral and getting assessments and preventing hospitalisation.

I order to make this happen I need to know the area. The demogragh, population, how many people with autism in the area, are they living independently or in supported living. Is there a similar project in place. Ideally this would be good if the use of graphs or tables could demonstrate this.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the module students will be able to:

1. Critically evaluate the role of the Paramedic within the inter-professional team in primary and urgent care

2. Critically discuss problem solving strategies in the assessment and care of patients

3. Utilise evidence to inform and enhance patient assessment and management

There is very little critically evaluate the role of paramedic practice and very little critical discuss problem solving in the revised assignment.
