Career Action Plan

Refer to the values, skills, and goals sections of your IDP and take some time to think seriously about where you would like to be in your future career and how you will get there.

Once you have generated some ideas, create a career action plan in which you specifically focus on all of the following (before you begin, note that all of your goals must be SMART goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.):
• Provide a title

• Provide a long-term career goal (Slide 2): Your career goal should be a goal that you can realistically accomplish in approximately 2–7 years.  keep in mind that this must be a career goal, not an academic or personal goal.
• Insert your current skills — My Present
Refer to the skills section of your IDP.

o Explain where you are right now in terms of your career progress.
o What current strengths and weaknesses can you identify?
o What current skills and experiences do you have that make you stand out?
