The objective of this assignment is to write an academic research paper on a topic in banking and finance law (6,000 – 6,500 words). Students are required to research and write a paper on a topic of their choice.
A first draft setting out the research topic, research question, an initial bibliography and an outline of findings up to that point is due in Week 6
New payment technologies: the risks and the regulatory responses (e.g. cryptocurrencies, Diem, ‘Apple Pay’, central bank digital currencies, etc ) (You could consider the ideal regulatory response or you could look at potential shortcomings in the existing regulatory framework.
It may be worthwhile restricting the number of payment technologies you wish to analyse in order to deepen the analysis rather than write superficially about a broad range of issues. This type of topic allows for a comparative approach.)
