Instructions

You are to select one of the following MS‐Word case study topics and produce the suggested document. In each case you will create a document which respects the criteria outlined. You will not have to present anything to the class. The focus is to apply your knowledge of the software that you learned during the classes.

Case Study One: Creating and Formatting a School Events Newsletter

1. Create a newsletter about current local events that contains the following:
a. Include at least 4 topics and provide enough material for a 2-page newsletter.
b. Include a title for the newsletter and subtitles for each topic.
2. Format the newsletter as follows:
a. Center the title of the newsletter across the top of the page.
b. Set the body of the newsletter in 2 columns.
c. Bold and enlarge the title of the newsletter. Italicize the subtitles.
d. Create a footer in the bottom right corner that will print on both pages. Include
your name and today’s date in the footer.
3. Format the document in any other way you see fit.
4. Spell check your document.
5. Save the document with the name Events Newsletter – your first name.

Case Study Two: Creating and Formatting an Advertising Flyer

1. Create an advertising flyer for an information session related to one or more of the topics covered in this course material or topics related to your program. Include the following information:
a. The name of the organization for the information session.
b. An introduction to the reason for the information session.
c. A list of topics to be covered.
d. Dates and times for the information session(s).
e. Contact names and information for more information.

2. You decide the layout and formatting of the flyer using the following guidelines:
f. Use at least 3 different font colors and 2 different fonts.
g. Include at least one graphic image or picture.
h. For the contact information, make sure the contact name is aligned to the left and
set a right tab with dot leaders between the name and phone number so that the
names and numbers line up underneath each other.

3. Print the flyer and show it to a classmate for any suggestions. Make any changes that you feel are necessary.
4. Save the document with the name Information Session Flyer – your first name.
