What is the difference between Prospective Memory and Retrospective Memory?  Which stage of YOUR “Prospective Memory” do you feel is most in deficit and WHY?

Take a moment to recall a highly significant event in your life where you experienced a great amount HAPPINESS. Now, for this question, carefully TYPE DOWN in some good detail what exactly happened to you (and all around you) during that event. Try to do this as specifically as you can, offering the most significant details you can of what happened .

In the third and final aspect of this part, take some time to “de-construct” and “explain the various layers / pieces” of your happy memory based on the “SELF-MEMORY MODEL SYSTEM” that’s presented on TB pages 276-277.

From the perspective of YOUR “Life Story” scrutinize the aspects of your recalled memory from Question 1 above that allow you to identify the actual “theme”, “lifetime period”, “general events” and “event-specific knowledge” for your particular HAPPY autobiographical memory.

The goal here is to help you see how your own HAPPY autobiographical memory can be characterized by the nuanced aspects of this model. As you wrap up identifying what parts of your happy memory correspond to what parts of the self-memory model system, also offer your thoughts on how the “WORKING SELF” is involved in this identification process.

In just ONE sentence, distinguish a “flashbulb memory” is compared to a general ‘everyday’ memory. In 2-3 sentences, recall and briefly describe, with some detail, a flashbulb memory that YOU have from your own life.

In just TWO final sentences, what do the results of the study by Talarico & Rubin  specifically tell you about how much belief / faith you ought to have in the accuracy of the details for any flashbulb memories you may have compared to your NON-flashbulb everyday memories?

What is the difference between Prospective Memory and Retrospective Memory?  Which stage of YOUR “Prospective Memory” do you feel is most in deficit and WHY? Be careful here to really think through which stage seems to be most challenged for you, as doing so might help you develop a strategy or two to IMPROVE your own “Prospective Memory”.
