Topic: Synthesize (or compare and contrast two works under one correlated thematic idea) the following two literary works, “Sonny’s Blues” by James Baldwin and “The Married Woman”from The Second Sex by Simon de Beauvoir, with applying the concept of ethnic studies orgender studies to validate the common thematic idea of the two works—By carefully reading the two literary works, you have to

1) Develop a correlated theme of the works, and then 2) validate it with at least two quotes from each work, total four or more quotes, in your synthesis essay.
You are also required to watch the following clips and get at least one (or more) quote from one or two clips to make your essay informative and interesting to read.

James Baldwin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y6xwH88kpg
Simon de Beauvoir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws2Y2cWme8c
The structure of your essay should be,

Paragraph One: Present the correlated thematic idea of the assigned fictions by keeping ethnic and/or gender studies in your mind—those who marginalized should be center-staged. You also need to address the value of ethnic and/or gender studies by referring to the above one or two clips from YouTube. Set the tone of your academic essay objective by not using “I”unnecessarily, and make your synthesis objective and persuasive.

Paragraph Two: Articulate the concept of ethnic or gender studies by referring to one of the scholarly published online or printed resources. If you can’t come up with a scholarly published source, you are required to go with the above clip(s) from YouTube.

Paragraph Three to Four: Synthesize the two works by getting FOUR quotes to support your main idea of the fictions. In each paragraph, there should be at least two quotes from two different works to validate one correlated theme. Neither a summary nor a simple analysis.

Paragraph Five: Get at least two quotes from two secondary sources to support your main idea— think of how some ethnic and gendered people have been mistreated and even ignored.

Paragraph Six: Reinforce the main idea to remind your readers of what you have
synthesized in your argumentative or explanatory essay and address any ethnic or gender issues that need to be further studied.

“Along with the assigned two fictions, at least two more secondary sources by doing research should be discovered and listed in your Works Cited by following MLA Format.”

“Synthesize—simply speaking, compare and contrast—the assigned two works
under one correlated thematic idea with the lens of ethnic or gender studies.

Develop a correlated theme of the works, and then validate it with at least two quotes from each work, total four or more quotes, in your synthesis essay.
