The prerequisite for this class was ENG1102, Writing the Research Essay. There you should have written several genres of essays all which should have begun with an organizational plan, an outline.

An outline is the infrastructure for your essay. It is how you plan to write it, what you need to include in it, and how to begin.Outline to the skeleton of beams and girders that you see erected for a new construction of a building.

Later, the drywall, wood, and brick is added on to produce the finished product. The same for your essay outline, the “meat” to be laid on those bones are the words of the essay. Attached find a link from “The Purdue Owl” to assist in your development of this assignment.

For your Literary Analysis Essay, you will need to choose one of the readings from this course.  Analyze and interpret a thought-provoking theme, character, passage, or concept found in the literary piece you are analyzing.  This could be an extension of one of your critical thinking assignments.

Your outline needs to include at least:
The literature piece you have chosen
Your topic
Your thesis statement (needs to be arguable and unique)
The topic sentences for your body paragraphs
A few supporting ideas for each body paragraph
