Analysis of Valkyrie

After watching the movie Valkyrie…

1. Briefly explain what you learned from the film or what you found interesting from a historical perspective. Consider addressing cultural awareness or knowledge in your response, if appropriate.

2. Briefly explain who in your selected film acted justly and why based on your understanding of the conceptions of justice.

3. Reflect on the concept of honor in a contemporary setting and as described in the Newell postscript. Does the concept of honor have a place in public service today?

Newell describes the concept of honor as:

This concluding chapter argues that being an ethical public servant will also help restore honor to the public service and those who labor in it. That is also a needed outcome.

“Ethics” does not fully capture the essence of what we need. “Honor” may serve us better.

“Honor” is, as noted, embedded in military culture. It is a declared standard, an aim of military education, and a practice regularly sought and evaluated.
