Trance Dance
“Write an essay that discusses the purposes, ramifications, and power of trance dancing in a culture, with a focus on the transformative intent of both the performer and the audience.”
There is not a specific number of sources needed but the paper does need at least one primary source for citing.
You can use any cultural example of trance dance but would recommend using the Shamanistic trance dance culture because there’s more information on it and seems to answer all of the questions the assignment asks. Hopefully explanation is clear enough to understand.
1. Define trance dance and pick a cultural example. (Shamanistic, EDM, etc.)
2. What is the purpose and ramifications of trance dance?
3. What is the transformative intent of both the performer and audience? In other words, why do they do it? What do performers or observers intend on achieving trance dancing?
