Reflect on whether affirmative action should be based on social class instead of or in addition to affirmative action based on race. Why, or why not?

Affirmative Actions
In this second paper, you will further explore the challenges that we experience in our society today. One challenge to reduce discrimination is the remedy, affirmative action.

You will explore affirmative action and its effects on the opportunities (or lack thereof) of under-represented minorities.

Objectives:

Define affirmative action (Do not conflate affirmative action with ‘work quotas’.).

Reflect on whether affirmative action should be based on social class instead of or in addition to affirmative action based on race. Why, or why not?

Consider the actual effects of affirmative action on opportunities for under-represented minorities. Do these effects benefit or harm minorities?

Do affirmative action policies combat institutional discrimination policies such as school aptitude tests and drug laws as intended? Why, or why not?

Are there other alternatives to affirmative action? If so, what are they? Explain the importance of these alternatives.

This academic, college-level paper is expected to be 1250 words in length, double-spaced, in a 12-point font with one-inch margins. Three primary sources are required.
