Texas History paper annotated bibliography
The annotated bibliography should include a one page single-spaced (300-400 words) introduction discussing the chosen topic followed by 10 paragraph-length, single-spaced annotations (4 monographs, 4 full length journal articles, and 2 primary sources). The introduction should contain a statement(underline it) and a working title (think of it as an abbreviated statement), but not footnotes as it is simply a brief summation of the research so far.
Following the introduction are the brief annotations (3-6 sentences each) which include the statement of every work, a statement about evidence used, a critique of sources (strengths and weaknesses) as well as a concise explanation of how the source could be used in the project. Each annotation should begin with the full citation directly followed by the description. They are to be alphabetized by last name as they would be in a regular bibliography. The purpose of the annotations is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.
A good annotated bibliography encourages the author to think critically about the content of the works he/she is using, their place within a particular field of study, and their relation to his/her own research and ideas.
