TO WHOMSOEVER IT MAY CONCERN.

As Director of Engineering at ABC COMPANY and as his manager, I have known John for about four years, both professionally and personally. I have spent a lot of time analyzing, guiding, and encouraging him in his abilities. It is with great pleasure that I recommend John, who is applying for MSc in Computer Science at your esteemed institution.

John has been with ABC COMPANY for more than 15 years and has played a key role in the development of multiple software products. He and I started working together with teams from China, India, Italy, and the US to create a new product called nKA. He worked tirelessly to sort out cross-cultural differences and build a synchronized team across geographies. His meticulous planning and strong guidance paved the way for an on-time release of the product.

John is an accomplished technical leader and team player with effective problem-solving skills, quick on his feet to handle a variety of mission and project management challenges. He designed the user workflows for our new product nKA and then went on to supervise the new-generation user interface architecture with ReactJs, REDUX, and Immutable JavaScript. He further worked on an R&D project to transition server design from a monolithic architecture to a microservices-based architecture. He has programmed in Java for more than 15 years and is well versed in cloud technologies like AWS and Azure. He has a comprehensive knowledge of Automaton, DevOps, Dockers, Big Data, 4G, 5G, and IoT technologies.

In his role as a senior manager in engineering and research at ABC COMPANY, John has tackled some of the toughest challenges in the telecom call tracing space. He serves as the primary engineering point of contact for all nKA product escalations from our global telecom customers. He recently managed and fixed deployment operational issues for a major telecom vendor, which resulted in new business for the organization.

John has developed an innovative culture within his team with feedback and training, encouraging new ideas and product improvements. Consequently, his team presented 14 ideas at our organization’s recent innovation summit. He progressed to the finals of the ABC COMPANY Innovation Summit with a new product concept called Subscriber Path, which provides a novel approach to quickly locate a single subscriber’s service issue.

John is not only a talented technologist but also a capable leader. Among his leadership qualities, he demonstrates an ability to manage complexity, adaptability to ambiguous situations, and independence of thought. He is wholly invested in the growth of his team as well as our products, which have helped the organization immensely. He has mentored new team members and groomed experienced team members to be engineering managers.

John is also part of the program management team at ABC COMPANY and is experienced in iterative and agile project management. Recently, he was instrumental in introducing effective software development processes and training programs that helped reduce the number of nKA product bugs by over 60%.

John also contributes to the Corporate Social Responsibilities of ABC COMPANY. He has conducted sessions for underprivileged students, educating them with essential/ basic IT skills at an NGO in US, which is associated with our organization. He has also designed and translated online skill training guides for PRS, a Boston-based non-profit organization, to aid in its digital equity projects.

John now wants to devote his time to learning and pursuing his long-held desire of completing a full-time Master’s degree in Computer Science. I strongly recommend his application to your esteemed university. I am confident his experience and enthusiasm to learn will do a lot of good for himself, his peers, and the university.
