In this project, you will identify specific positions within a given sports property, and develop an understanding of what it takes to secure that position.
You will outline an organizational structure currently being used in a collegiate sporting organization. Create an organizational chart that clearly outlines every position within the organization or the entire department. You can create an organization chart by using Smart Art in Microsoft Word, or any other program you use.
Then elaborate on each position, job duties, minimum job requirements, and how one can be promoted within that organization. Describe which of those positions appeals to you the most, and why. By understanding how organizations work, and the division of labor, you should be able to conceptualize which positions appeal to you, and which ones do not. Try to describe each position and the responsibilities that that position requires. Get a feel for that organization’s potential for upward mobility, and pay attention to the specific job requirements that candidates must possess.
Incorporate Elements of the Strategy Diamond and look at this organization from another angle. This information will help you understand the company, strategy, and success that they have achieved.

1. Start by identifying one or two organizations you would like to work for upon graduation. Investigate them and look for content related to their human resources department, that provides information on how they operate.
2. Search for a job posting from this organization, and find the job requirements, positional expectations, and any qualifications related to securing this job.
3. Explore their staff, and start to craft your organizational chart by embedding information about their leadership, staff, reporting lines, and other related content you will include in your chart. Charts can be created in Word, PWP, etc.
4. Describe these positions, and follow the prompt to evaluate the organization. Go position by position, and search for articles that can help provide insight into the culture of that organization.
