Read about the three main theories of dreaming (Freudian, Cognitive, Activation-Synthesis) on pages 145-146 and pick the one(s) that most relate to your dream content. Write a 2-page paper summarizing your results, relating your own experiences to one or more dream theories.
What was the setting of the dream – indoors, outdoors, school, work?
If people were there, who were they -strangers, celebrities, someone from your past?
How did you feel – happy, sad, confused, content, lonely, angry?
Were there animals involved, and were they aggressive or friendly?
Did anyone speak to you directly, and if so, what was said?
It may take several attempts to collect details. If you don’t have any luck, think about your dream history – have you had a recurring dream or one that came true? What was your favorite or most frightening dream? You can also interview someone about their dream content if you need more information.
