PART TWO: Multimodal analysis (approx. 1,600 words)
Choose a text to analyse. This text must be multimodal, i.e. combining written or spoken language with e.g. images, gesture, music, film etc., and it must not be a text we have previously analysed on the module. Suggested text types will be provided in class.

You should have your choice of text approved by a module tutor prior to beginning your analysis; you will be given opportunities in class to do this.

Choose appropriate analytical frameworks encountered on the module to analyse your chosen text, and justify your choice of framework(s).

Analyse the ideological meanings and representations of gender, race and or/ethnicity within your chosen text. You should also discuss what your findings demonstrate about how particular identities are being constructed, challenged, or reinforced through the text.

You must provide a transcription/copy of the text, or a URL in the case of online resources, with your analysis. This does not count towards your word count.

Your complete portfolio should be 3,600 words (+/- 10% rule applies).
Include only ONE reference list at the end of your portfolio.
