In Unit 2, you learned that there are many different definitions of law. How you define “law” can have a significant impact on your assessment of a legal system.
In a well-written informative essay of roughly 4 pages (900–1,000 words), provide an evaluation of the U.S. legal system today.
In your essay you must: (1) incorporate at least two of the four major assumptions of law; (2) describe at least two functions and two dysfunctions of law; and (3) incorporate at least two different definitions of law.
Your assessment should explain how each of the selected topics relate to one another: show the connections between your definitions, assumptions, functions, and dysfunctions of the legal system and how these guide the behavior of members of society.
