A critical analysis of the relationship of livestock farming to crime, harm and the state

Your essay should be a coherent whole, develop a logical argument and be fully and correctly referenced. In addition, it should:

Critically analyse your chosen topic, including by drawing on one or more of the module themes of power, discourse and resistance use at least five sources that you have independently found:

At least three and a maximum of four of your references must be peer-reviewed journal articles.

At least one and a maximum of two of your references must be sources of the following type(s): a book; a chapter from an edited book; grey literature.

use chapter 4 as well

The essay title requires you to engage with and critically analyse topic in relation to at least one of the module themes of power, discourse and resistance. An essay that does not engage with at least one of these module themes will result in a fail grade . There is no right or wrong answer as to whether you should explicitly engage with one, two or all three of these themes.

The number of themes and the depth with which you engage with each one will depend on the nature of the argument you are making in the essay, and the prominence of the themes and their relevance to your essay topic and sources.

Further, if you use more than one theme, you need not use these ‘equally’; for instance, it may be the case that ‘power’ is the key theme for your overall argument, but that you wish to refer to a particular example of resistance to state power.
