Select the theme that you wish to pursue then write a proposal that give a sense of what issue or topic you would like to explore in your paper.

Proposal:
You must define a focus for yourself. This should be an issue you wish to explore, or a question you wish to answer, that emerges from the readings and discussions of the course.

In other words, you will need to select the theme that you wish to pursue.
Based on this, you must submit a paper proposal prior to writing the paper. Your proposal should give a sense of what issue or topic you would like to explore in your paper.

It must relate, of course, to the course – that is, it must engage questions of Jewish memory. The research paper should include both primary and secondary sources. Your proposal should give a sense of what those sources will be.

Your proposal should be 1-2 paragraphs (25-300 words) and include the following:
1.
A tentative title for you paper

2.
The goal, aim, or objective of your paper – what issue, question or theme you wish to know more about, to explore, and to analyse

3.
How your topic relates to this course

4.
How you will go about finding out about your topic, finding material for it. If you can’t find sufficient sources for your topic, you may have to rethink your focus.

5. A preliminary annotated bibliography (in MLA format). This can include sources in different media (e.g. books, films, chapters, articles in journals, newspapers, websites). While this is not the final bibliography for your paper, it is a way to test out whether sources exist for the topic you wish to explore.

The class was dealing with Jewish memory. We touched on music, food, place, future, ritual, text, objects and language as memory
