Billy Martin Discussion

On December 25, 1989, New York Yankees manager, Billy Martin, died in a single vehicle car accident. Martin was found driver seat and his injured friend, William Reedy, was found in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Both men had been consuming alcohol prior to the accident.

Reedy originally told police he was the driver of the vehicle. Reedy later recanted his statement, saying he lied to protect his friend. There were also rumors that Martin was not driving the vehicle and Reedy moved Martin’s body to the driver seat of the vehicle to protect himself from being arrest for driving under the influence.
