b. Stress can not only suppress the immune system, it can also make the immune system go into overdrive—known to stress researchers as an overactive immune system. Several chronic diseases involve an overactive immune system including, but not limited to, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and many gastrointestinal tract problems. a. Processed (table) sugar is known to decrease white blood count. A diet high in fats is also known to overextend the lymphatics system that is busy transporting the family of white blood cells. Foods laden with herbicides, funlcides, and synthetic fertilizers also take their toll on the immune system. How does your diet negatively affect your immune system?
