Nursing Practice Issue

Respond to the discussion post.

This is what she wrote. A nursing practice issue that interests me is the high readmission rates of patients with heart failure. I currently serve as a cardio-vascular nurse and I have witnessed firsthand the prevalence of this issue. Research shows that “Nearly 1 in 4 heart failure (HF) patients are readmitted within 30 days of discharge and approximately half are readmitted within 6 months” ( Khan et al.,2021). Qualitative research would help understand the prevalence of this issue and the effectiveness of the intervention being proposed. A quasi-experimental research study will be helpful in better understanding the issue of high readmission rates among patients with heart failure. In this study, I hope to analyze the effects of an outpatient virtual heart failure management program on readmission rates in 30 days. Quantitative research findings will allow me to compare the difference in readmission rates in patients with heart failure that participates in the program versus patients who do not participate in the program. Quantitative research will provide the numerical evidence needed to conclude if the proposed intervention is effective or not. An example of a quantitative research study that will provide valuable evidence to this issue is to survey the willingness of heart failure patients to participate in a virtual heart failure management program after discharge. This research will let me know if my proposed intervention is worth implementing.
