Recently, the European Union considered labelling crude oil from the oil sands in Alberta “dirty” as it produces more greenhouse gases in obtaining it compared to other methods of obtaining oil. This would make Alberta oil less welcome in European refineries. It would be a blow to the industry if European countries reduced the amount of oil they purchased from the oil sands. Use print and electronic sources to research this issue.
