Production review
Write a production review for the play The Motherf*cker With The Hat. By Stephen Adly Guirgis; Directed by Patrick Sabongui.
Watch the video of the entire play, and then write the production review. Follow the instructions and guidelines below:
Write one short (2-3 page) review in response to the production. The response should focus on the theatrical elements of the productions, such as directing, acting, scenic design, costume, lighting, sound design, and music. The response will provide you with opportunities to apply the technique of dramatic analysis and theatrical review that you will learn in the class.
These may address the following questions:
How did the play affect you and why?
What was the setting/ world of the play? When was it set and why?
Which design elements transported you or were most effective in constructing the world of the play?
What was the overarching theme of the play or what themes did the play engage with?
Would you have done anything differently or have thoughts on what may have improved the production?
Why is this play important for audiences today?
Be detailed and provide specific examples.
DO NOT simply write a summary or plot of the play.
