What impact does congruency between your personal leadership and the organization’s philosophy have on creating a person-centered, caring healthcare organization?

Week 1 TD Response

Respond to the below peer response:

I believe in the inherent goodness of people. I tend to trust first, while still being aware of my surroundings and potential threats, both in and out of the workplace. However, once I question another’s motives and integrity, that trust is difficult to regain. Professionally, this happens when a superior takes work and ideas to claim them as their own, without giving credit. Professionally, this happens when a leader shows favoritism, or bias. Current leadership trends, such as transformational, transactional, and authentic leadership indicate the future of healthcare. These relational styles influence job satisfaction, and positive outcomes for nurses and patients (Cummings et al., 2021).

My philosophy of leadership is to be an authentic, visible, and trustworthy leader. Along with this is transparent communication, providing honest and constructive feedback. Others know that I value their viewpoints and take all factors into consideration when making decisions. It is important that my motivations are transparent and for the greater good of the system.

Authentic leadership can increase staff commitment and influence ethical, responsible behavior (Maziero et al., 2020). This translates to nurses who want to improve their quality of care and are dedicated to the profession, and hopefully, their employer. In my current position, I solicit process improvement plans from all staff. I like to take in the different opinions, ideas, and potential solutions before making a, hopefully collective, decision. I value transparency and have no issue defending my decisions or positions truthfully and openly. I am promoting relationships among staff. The team collective effort to grow and respect one another begins with leadership by example and in everyday actions.
