Cycle of Socialization
After reading Harro’s explanation of her Cycle of Socialization (2008), write a synopsis. A good synopsis will be 1 – 2 pages (double space).
A good synopsis will include many of these points:
The socialization process is “pervasive” – as well as what other characteristics
The characteristics of our system were built before we were born; what are they based on
Define term: agent, target, and examples
Define and provide examples of enforcements (from the article, quoted and cited, or from your own experience/socialization)
Define term: internalized oppression
Example of societal problem and root(s)
How fear and ignorance are different for agent and target members
What may choosing direction for change look like for you personally
