Discussion: I have never considered becoming an educator once I complete this DNP program. Although a doctorate is appropriate for a faculty role, DNP programs are not really designed to prepared individuals planning to become educators. I will keep an open mind since anything can happen and with the right opportunity, I would consider an educator role. If I do, I definitely plan of getting additional preparations to add pedagogical skills with my clinical practice. The idea of sharing my experience and giving back to my community as an educator is attractive.

Becoming a doctorate prepared educator could potentially present leadership roles. Pursuing high-level leadership positions can lead to various aspects of the health care process. I did some research on career paths for executive roles often had background in education who oversees nurses who deliver patient care or running a facility’s operation (Sebach, A. M., 2021). Teaching the next generation of nurses to be effective leaders would be rewarding and is something I would be interested in. By providing mentorship only helps improve nurses’ job performance and increases the quality of are they provide to patients.

Where I see myself in five years is still unknown as life can change quickly. If an educator role presents itself in the future, I foresee it would be similar to the program I am currently in. With an online, distant program for the schedule flexibility. Perhaps I will dabble in the private sector with mentorship programs to help guide individuals choose the path that aligns with their values (Higgins, K., & Newby, O., 2020). It is difficult to say, but I am grateful to have my health and my family are well, and I am content with the path I am on.
