My future Profession is becoming a Respiratory Therapist. My director calls us the secrets of the hospital meaning that we need to have almost complete knowledge of the lungs, heart, kidneys, I believe that healthcare workers in general, are what we call societies heroes. But with hero’s burnout is prevalent. The issue that seems to be the most prevalent amongst Respiratory Therapists are required to work a 12-hr. shift when scheduled. The 12 hrs. are physically and emotionally demanding because of the fact that your what is going to keep a patient from life or death. Especially during covid These 12 hr. shifts we made even longer as well as even more of a physical and emotional demand, ultimately ending in burnout. This has been something that we are taught to cope with. But from about the 8 months, I’ve been in school out of a year and a half. It has come to me that we need to acknowledge this issue rather than shy away from the idea and ignore it. A concept that Seems to in a sense correlate towards why it’s something that needs to be acknowledgeable directly from our professional ethical toolkit is simply the Moral principles which is Honesty. What i mean by this is the ability to stay true to not only other people but yourself included. As i said in the beginning of my post is that we are morally obligated to provide Benefinance which can be defined as the Persons should do what they reasonably can to improve the situation of others. Thats what the healthcare system in general is. To provides and put patients’ needs above your own which is why I signed up. But I believe that acknowledging how you feel and seeking for help will ultimately bring the prevalence of burnout amount all healthcare workers down and end it.

I had to rack my brain a little bit to find something in my industry. Most of my time is spent helping people sell their businesses and determining value of a business etc. but we do often work with real estate as well. The biggest issue we run into is when there are multiple agents competing for a listing, and someone over-inflates the value of the property or business in order to make the seller choose them thinking they can get a higher price, when in reality, they know they have quoted something well-above market value and the sale price will end up much lower, though taking more time to finally sell to someone. This is an issue that has been going on for decades, as agents try to fill their pipeline of deals worrying about the ethical ramifications later on. An article from Agent Harvest speaks from 10 years ago warning home-owners to beware agents who try to overinflate the value just so they can be the winning agent to list the property.
This is a difficult problem to solve, as there is nothing illegal at work. Many agents truly believe that they can command a higher price, but ultimately fail, and only the seller loses by wasting time and letting qualified buyers go because the price is wrong. However, there are some agents out there who will do whatever they can to sign a listing, giving out false information just to ink the deal. The best solution is to educate home owners and those looking to sell. Ensure they do their homework on who they choose to represent them and have multiple sources provide a brokers opinion of value to see where the average is. The power to hold those accountable lies in the hands of the people who have been misrepresented, where they can leave reviews and discuss the ill-will from the broker so that people around understand who runs their businesses these ways. I always conduct myself with dignity and honesty, and maintain a practice of beneficence to ensure the betterment of my clients. In this business I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life, and love helping those through skills I have. Working with someone who ultimately lays the facts on the table, and gives the client the autonomy of choice should always win, not someone who skews information and works to sell an incomplete picture.
