In 1620, Englishman William Bradford traveled to the New World (America) in search of religious freedom from the church of England. His narrative, Of Plymouth Plantation, describes the voyage with fellow Puritans on the Mayflower and their subsequent encounters with Native Americans.

Write a detailed journal entry in which you narrate one of the experiences Bradford describes but from another Pilgrims point of view.

The attitude of the pilgrim will be happy and excited about going to the new world, but some what worried about what to expect.

His tone will be optimistic, formal and serious. The event that you will be narrating is “The Voyage”.

Consider how a personal journal entry might be different from Bradford’s narrative written for publication.

Write your journal entry using the following guidelines:
A full retailing of the event
Use examples of paraphrase and summary to retell events
Narrators attitude toward the event should be expressed.
