In this discussion, you will play the roles of a parent advocate and a public health regulatory affairs manager.
Advocate: As the parent advocate, you are alarmed by what you sense is a lack of proper attention paid to children suffering from various forms of severe trauma. At the same time, you have seen firsthand, increasing numbers of children being diagnosed for ADD and ADHD and prescriptions of amphetamine and methylphenidate stimulants (Ritalin, Methylin, Focalin, Dexedrine, and Adderall), which may increase long-term risks for heart attacks and psychiatric problems (Bhandari, n.d.).
Regulatory affairs manager: As the regulatory affairs manager, you have looked at what has been presented to you by your professional peers up to this point and you are ready to share what you think can be done with existing regulations and recommend additional regulations for addressing PTSD/ACEs in the Vila Health community.
