Summarize and assess appropriate scholarly literature (assigned as required or suggested readings throughout this course and any other readings you wish to source on your own) related to any theme/topic within the scope of the politics of work and labour.

ASSIGNMENT

Summarize and assess appropriate scholarly literature (assigned as required or suggested readings throughout this course and any other readings you wish to source on your own) related to any theme/topic within the scope of the politics of work and labour (e.g., gendered or racialized work, unions, legal regulations/institutions, automation, work post-COVID-19, etc.).

This assignment has intentionally been designed to provide you with enough flexibility to write about a research topic that interests you.

Similarly, you could write about the minimum wage, unemployment insurance and health and safety as all three are related to the general topic of regulation of work by means of law/legislation (as opposed to collective agreements).

Feel free to use subheadings in your paper as a way of organizing your summaries/discussions of different readings or sub-topics (e.g., minimum wage, unemployment insurance and health/safety could be subheadings in one paper on the general topic of labour regulation by means of legislation in Canada). In the final paper, use your total word count wisely by aiming for brevity in all aspects.

Summarize and assess appropriate scholarly literature (assigned as required or suggested readings throughout this course and any other readings you wish to source on your own) related to any theme/topic within the scope of the politics of work and labour.
