Instrumental Music

Vivaldi’s set of concertos, The Four Seasons, uses instrumental music to tell a story which portrays a poem he wrote for each movement. For example, in the first movement of “Spring,” we hear birds singing, brooks and streams flowing, gentle breezes blowing, and a wild storm that includes thunder and lightning. When instrumental music is based on a pre-existing text or story (a program), it is called programmatic music.

Or, do you have a favorite movie which features a score (instrumental movie music) that you think did NOT enhance the drama?
