COLLAPSE
Hi class,

The healthcare system is constantly changing that are requiring more of healthcare professionals to implement new practices and theories. It is expected of these clinicians to collaborate among their team to enhance patient outcomes with multiple disciplines. As new practices and policies improve, it is even more important a healthcare team improve their communication among one another, so that the patient care provides is comprehensive and the teams understanding of the practices are known (Butts & Rich, 2021). This is not is easy task and it required direct leadership to accomplish this goal.

Leadership plays a huge role in the success of an interdisciplinary team in the healthcare setting. Although the Change theory is a non-nursing theory that advance practicing registered nurses can implement in their daily practice. The practices and policies of a clinical setting is ever changing and many clinicians may not welcome changes in their many years of practice (McKenna, 1997). This is where the friction in leadership to promote and support their staff, regardless if they may or may not agree with. For example, some nurses prefer to give report outside a patient’s room for many reasons such as comfort, isolation rooms, and being discreet on going over sensitive information. Some hospitals are requiring the nurses to give a bedside report to promote the patient involvement of their plan of care.

The Change theory can greatly benefit APRNs in their daily practices and provides a complex approach in understanding a leadership position. It provides the framework that applies in a healthcare system and utilizes the environment to innovate patient care (Zaccagnini & Pechaecek, 2019). It prepares the APRNs to be adaptable and accountable in a variety of scenarios that ultimately benefit the quality of care for patients.
