Film Analysis Paper

Your Film Analysis paper should demonstrate your ability to make connections between class discussions and themes and popular media.

Use your sociological imagination and concepts from the textbook to analyze and evaluate the film.

As you watch your chosen film and prepare to write your paper, you should:

Watch the film careful and take notes.
Write a short synopsis (no more than a paragraph) of the film.

Include the following:

Summary/synopsis of the film

Definitions of course concepts and how they are explored/discussed in the film

Rating of the film in terms of its usefulness to discuss and explore sociological topics

Discussion of the following questions:

What social problem(s) is (are) addressed in the film? (Introduce and explain the social problem)

According to the film, what is the cause of the social problem? (If this is not stated, what is implied? What do you know/what have we learned in class about this problem?)

What solutions, if any, are suggested in the film? If there are multiple solutions, is one suggested/preferred (based on the content/message of the film)?
