The rescue procedure for choking, Heimlich maneuver, starts with examining the signs and behavior of the victim. In adults, the rescuer is supposed to check whether a person can cough or make sounds. If one cannot breathe, the rescuer is expected to stand behind the victim and wrap his/her arms around the victim’s waist.
