Leadership Case Analysis

This assignment focuses on combining the concepts you’ve discussed in class with an evaluation of your own leadership style as revealed through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). In total, your analysis should be approximately 5 pages, excluding a cover sheet and reference page. You will analyze and evaluate the leadership skills exhibited by a strategic communication professional and discuss how your leadership style/characteristics would cause you to approach this case in a similar or different manner. You are expected to use quotes and paraphrases from the course text and additional authoritative readings in order to help you diagnose what is happening in the case and evaluate the extent to which individuals exhibited effective leadership.

Your analysis should include the following:

Part I (

Background/overview of the case that you choose. For an example of a case, think about the various companies or organizations your classmates have described in the discussion forums each week. You may also explore other sources, such as Harvard Business Review (online access available through the Purdue Libraries website).

Your evaluation of the leadership exhibited by a strategic communication professional.

Rationale for your evaluation.

Part II

Prior to completing the second part of the assignment, you will take the free MBTI assessment here: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp. If you have previously taken the MBTI, you can use those results, though it may be interesting to retake it here to see if your type is has changed. Because this is a free version of the MBTI, it is an abbreviated version without feedback, input, or evaluation from a licensed MBTI professional.
