What is organizational development? Response to C.S:
Organizational development is a long range effort to improve organization’s problem solving and renewal processes, particularly through more effective and collaborative management of organizational culture, often with the assistance of a change agent or catalyst and the use of the theory and technology of applied behavioral science. It uses science-based process that helps organizations build their capacity to change and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving, and reinforcing strategies, structures, and processes.

Organizational Development is improving and implementing practices, systems, and techniques that affect organizational change. The goal is to modify an organization’s performance and/or culture. Personal and Professional Development is different because it is focused on the individual rather than the organization as a whole. Strategic planning and development on organizational development, training, and education is significant because an organization can direct its employees to participate in personal/professional development to improve there standing/performance within the organization. As a classmate before me has said, in the Air Force, we were directed to complete CBTs on an annual basis to maintain proficiency on certain items as well as increase our knowledge and performance on others.
