Research Project: Traditional Italian Mafia
Prepare a five to six-page essay on the following topic:
1. The traditional Italian mafia has taken some serious hits from the various law enforcement agencies that try to control it, as well as the courts, not to mention the real “hits” imposed within its own ranks! However, it is still around and continues to manifest
2. You may explore the history, traditions, workings, and criminal activities of the “traditional” mafia; Italian organized crime. Look at how it has influenced and affected businesses, government, and the criminal justice system. What laws have been toughened or enacted to limit its influence? But do keep in mind that not all organized crime is the realm of the mafia. Other forms of organization composed of other ethnic groups have come to take up the slack left by the many successful mafia prosecutions and convictions. You might find it interesting to explore some of the other organizations.
