Determine the tensile properties of 1018 steel and 6061 aluminium.

LAB REPORT – TENSILE TEST USING STRAIN GAUGING AND CROSS-HEAD DISPLACEMENT METHODS

The objective of the experiment was to determine the tensile properties of 1018 steel and 6061 aluminium. It involved conducting a tensile test on a specimen of each material and describing the resulting tensile response.

The goal was to establish how strain gauges can be used to measure material properties and how the method compares with the crosshead displacement approach.

Tensile test remains the most widely conducted experiment in materials science. This work is a lab report of a tensile test of Aluminum and Steel with measurements done using the strain gauging method and the crosshead displacement method.

It includes an abstract, introduction, technical theory, procedure, results and discussion, analysis, conclusion and references. It is a masterpiece which students will find useful every time they are writing their own reports. The work is original and has not been submitted anywhere before for academic purposes.
